All Services

  • BATHING

Treat your pet to a luxurious bath. Our special, cleansing baths remove dirt, debris and that doggie pet odor – your pet will feel fresh and revitalized. If scratching is a problem, our medicated baths contain soothing agents that stop the itching. Services also include nail trim, anal sac expression, and ear cleaning.

  • BOARDING

Pets are like our children – we feed, nurture and lavish attention on them. Our highly qualified kennel attendants do the same when you can't be there. We provide tender loving care (such as brushing and cuddling), and supervised outdoor playtime to keep them happy and active.

  • DENTAL CARE

Veterinary dentistry have evolved greatly in the past 15 years.

We strive to practice the most progressive methods to help treat our pets mouths for disease and help prevent gum disease and the loss of teeth. It is a known fact that gum disease can lead to the spread of bacteria into the bloodstream and then to other parts of the body such as the heart ( endocardiosis) , liver, kidneys, and bladder.

A dental prophylaxis or "dental" will not only remove the tartar and visible calculus above the gum line but will also remove the tartar and calculus under the gum line that you cannot see.

At SCVH we have the capabilities to take dental radiographs just as you would have done at your personal dentist. The dental radiographs allow us to assess bone loss, presence of cavities, tumors of the jaw and help to determine if a tooth can be saved or if it must be removed.

We focus on teaching the owner how they can help to decrease the frequency of dental procedures by showing them how to brush their pets teeth, discussing proper chew toys and how to look for problems with the teeth to help our friends from losing them!

    We get excited about teeth!

  • EMERGENCY AND CRITICAL CARE

In any emergency, seconds count. Our experienced staff is backed up by our mobile resuscitation unit, stocked and equipped to administer the ABCs of basic life support – Airway, Breathing, Circulation/Cardiac compressions. Emergency care is offered during regular business hours. In addition, we use the services of a local, fully staffed emergency center.

  • IMMUNIZATION AND WELLNESS CARE

We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in Wellness programs has rewards for both pets and owners. Our Wellness programs are designed specifically for your pet and include: Comprehensive physical exam; internal parasite testing; heartworm and flea control; vaccination program; spay and neuter package; and specialized blood tests for all life stages.

Performing annual bloodwork is an essential tool in screening for potentially life threatening diseases such as kidney disease, hepatitis, urinary tract infections, thyroid related diseases and certain types of cancer.

The prognosis of any disease is often directly related to how early you can detect it. We recommend checking a yearly blood profile, urinalysis and thyroid level every year starting from 5 - 7 years of age.

Here at SCVH we have found numerous examples of early disease detection. Oftentimes the pets had no clinical signs and would have progressed to a state of suffering and possibly a terminal condition.

The sooner we can detect problems, the more treatment options we have.

Today we can do so much for our older pets to help give them a great quality of life and many more years of love and companionship!!

  • MICROCHIPPING

Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. We offer the most widely used microchip products to increase the chances of a safe recovery.

  • IN-HOUSE LABORATORY

Everyday we encounter cases that demand immediate diagnostics, and we have the most current equipment to handle this.

Whether we are dealing with an emergency, monitoring a critical care case or screening for problems prior to surgery, you can be assured quality measures are being taken to give us the most accurate picture of the problem.

Some of these diagnostics include a complete blood count, chemistry profile, urinalysis, cytological diagnostics and electrocardiograms.

  • PAIN MANAGEMENT

Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is the essence of good patient care.

  • RADIOLOGY

Most everyone is familiar with radiographs or "x-rays." We use radiology to help diagnose a multitude of diseases such as bony fractures, degenerative joint disease, lung disease, cardiac abnormalities, ingested foreign bodies etc.

Radiology is often used in conjunction with ultrasound to get an "inside" look at our furry friends.

  • SOFT TISSUE & ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY

We handle all elective surgeries such as ovariohysterectomy (spay), neutering, feline declaws , mass removals etc. but we also perform more advanced surgeries on a daily basis.

These include fracture repair, cruciate ligament repair, patellar luxation, femoral head ostectomy, gastric torsion, enterotomy, cystotomy, thoracotomy and the list goes on.

All of our surgery patients are monitored with the most current equipment including an ekg, pulse oximetry, and blood pressure measurements. We believe the key to a successful surgery is with good surgical skills, proper monitoring and recovery procedures and prior screening of bloodwork .

This is a very special interest with SCVH and we take pride in the numerous types of surgery we can perform!

We ask that our surgery patients arrive at the hospital between 8:00AM and 8:30AM on the scheduled day of surgery. They should be fasted, without a meal,  since 10:00PM the previous night. Water intake can remain normal until the morning of surgery.

  • ULTRASOUND

This is one of the most valuable diagnostic tools that we use on a daily basis.

Ultrasound is a noninvasive method to examine the internal abdominal organs such as the bladder, prostate, kidneys, spleen, liver, adrenal glands and lymph nodes.

It is one of the best tools for the early detection of tumors, stones in the bladder and kidneys, foreign bodies, and evidence of gastrointestinal motility disorders. It can of course be used to detect pregnancy as well.

Echocardiography is the use of ultrasound to evaluate the heart. We use this for the early detection of cardiac disease and to find tumors of the heart or other parts of the thoracic cavity.

Since ultrasound has been added to our practice we have been able to start treatment for our patients very early and greatly improve the prognosis.
